“You can’t play in the same region three years in a row,” explained Chrissy Baird to Kari and me last year.
That one line will remain in infamy.
In other words, you can’t play on UCONN’s side of the bracket three years in a row. And for the past two years that had been the case. Bridgeport, Connecticut, you will not be missed.
With that being said, heeeelllooooooooo Kansas, City!
We could make a little run here. We’re in a good spot.
There’s nothing like the NCAA Tournament. The magic of it all. The uncertainty of it all.
I’m currently in NYC. I flew in to watch my little brother play in Madison Square Garden for the first time in his NBA career. The NBA is cool and all, but it’s not college. Luke’s filling out his bracket right now as I type. Everyone wants a piece of the action. It’s Christmas in March.
It's Madness you know, this tournament. After a win, no matter how sloppy, it's all good--you lived to see another day.
But that means after a loss, you didn’t. And there’s no tomorrow.
Your heart kinda stops beating. Especially when you’re a senior. Especially when you know that’s the last game you’ll ever play...for the rest of your life.
I think that’s what makes this tournament so special. You know each and every single step could be your last. Whether it’s your last film session, last shoot around, or last time you might ever put on that uniform, you won’t know until that final buzzer sounds.
UCLA has a chance to do something absolutely amazing. And so do 63 other teams.
They have a chance to win the 2018 NCAA National Championship.
May the odds be ever in your favor.
It's time to dance.
