Drill of the week: USA Rebounding
Objective: Score 50 points
Keys: Rebounding, shooting, communication, conditioning
USA Rebounding is a drill that is good for all levels. In this drill divide your team up in to three lines and start them at half court. You will need two scout defenders or coaches on the block or just inside the key to compete against your team for the rebound.
Have the ball start in the middle line, the player will pass it to either wing and weave behind that person. The player receiving the ball will catch as they sprint toward the middle of floor making another pass to the opposite wing. This opposite wing person will then shoot the ball from either the 3 or which ever shot is in their range. Once the shot goes up, the two free players must seek a scout defender or coach and try to position themselves for an offensive rebound. If the basket is scored then all three players are off, however if the shot is missed the possesion does not end until the scout players recover the ball or the players offensively rebound it and place it back up for a score.
This drill will can be very competitive and fun. Remember the keys are to: Rebound, communicate, and make shots!
We hopes this serves you well!
