This segment of Drill of the Week features our principle of the attacking paint. We drill to our guards to attack the middle of the floor to influence the defense to collapse on the penetrator. Once our guards have reached the paint, they must be assertive to make a play to find our shooter on the wings or forwards running to the rim.
It is important that your guards attack assertively to push pressure on the defense to make decisions on who to guard. The defense must decide to stop the ball, protect the rim, and locate shooters on the wing. This is very difficult for a defense to do if you have quality guards who can make plays. If you are looking to score easy points and be more efficient in transition, we suggest that you concentrate on attacking middle to enable your guards to make simple decisions that lead to easy buckets! Hope you enjoy and look forward to having you back next week! Wendale Video Coordinator @Uclawbb |
