Throughout this past year our team has had the opportunity to get to know and love a very special family. The mom and her three young daughters often invited us to come over to their apartment in East Los Angeles to hangout and be a part of their world for a few hours. We would come to their home with fun gifts and snacks that we were able to purchase by recycling cans and bottles as a team. The girls loved the gifts, but I think the time we spent with them was a lot more meaningful than anything we could ever give them.
Typically our activities included competitive kickball in the parking lot, volleyball (well... our best attempt at volleyball), nail painting, and the consumption of way too many Hot Cheetos. While all these things were fun and brought me back to being a kid, the best part about each visit was getting to know the girls a little bit better.
I am amazed at the older sister and how she looked out for her little sisters…she is so kind and patient. The middle girl is super sweet. She is constantly smiling with joy and is already so smart. The youngest is passionate and feisty. She does everything with her whole heart, whether it’s chasing after a ball, eating everything in sight or giving a hug. All three girls are beautifully unique and so easy to love.
We have a lot of community outreach opportunities in our program, but getting to know this family has been by far my favorite thing I have been able to do. There is something special about getting to be around a family who has so much joy and love in their lives even though they have financial challenges and not a lot of material possessions. The family is moving away to be closer to their extended family. They will be missed by our team and always remembered for the light that they were in our lives.

All About That Neckline!
Hello beautiful people, and yes I do mean beautiful. I hope everyone has had a joyous week. As always I’m glad to be back to give you some insight on Coach Cori’s outfit choice. Today’s blog is about the effect of a neckline. Discover how I managed to simplify Coach’s look but still keep that feminine professional feel.
-Beige suit jacket and pants
-Keyhole halter top
-Oval diamond hoops
-Silver large chain bracelet
Let’s began with the blouse. Well, this was one of my favorites (I feel like I say this all the time hehe (: ). But seriously, I love the neckline of this blouse. With its round lining, and the subtle slit down the center, it softened up the suit a bit and gave a womanly appearance. Sometimes suits have a tendency of coming off too masculine on women, but with this flirty blouse there was no worry of masculinity over here. It 100% complimented her neck area as well as her short haircut! The combination of these attributes came together very gracefully on Coach Cori. Oh and also this blouse was also from the SCANDAL line I bought from The Limited, splendid choice to say the least!
To complete the look I choose a nude heel. This allowed the blouse as well as the textured bracelet to stand on its own and shine. With a brown or a black heel the outfit could have easily become unappealing to the eye with the deep pure colors.
For Coach’s jewelry I wanted to keep it fairly simple and let the detail throughout the blouse stand alone. We went with an oval shape hoop earring that shined with a few diamonds. With a mild beige suit and a nude heel, it was the perfect opportunity to add a little edge to this outfit. Thus, for some arm candy I choose a large silver bracelet that took the form of a rusted chain. It added some spice and texture to her look!
Remember it’s all about that neckline! Choosing blouses that compliment your shoulders, hair, or even that flattering collar bone of yours is always a plus, and will add a new elegance to your look!
It’s always a pleasure reporting on Coach’s outfits for the week. Like always feel free to contact me with comments, concerns, or if you just want to talk. See you all soon.
Hello beautiful people! I’m happy to be back reporting on Cori's Closet. Today I will be discussing Coach’s outfit on our most recent road trip to Cal Berkley. For those of you who were able to catch a peek at the game, you may have noticed that it was Cal's PINK game. So, of course, we had to come in the building and show our support! Continue reading to see how Coach honored those who have been affected by breast cancer in style!
-Electric pink jacket
-Large studded necklace
This outfit choice was very simple and straight to the point! I decided to bring out Coach's most daring piece in the closet. This electric pink jacket was such a loud statement garment, that using black basics was the most appropriate. It allowed the jacket to glow on its own and not fight for the spotlight. What did I love about this jacket? It was the perfect pop of color to brighten up a dark outfit. Also, this all black looked great on Coach because it gave her a more slender silhouette! I finished off the outfit by adding a little dazzle, with a silver studded necklace that completed the look with some shine.
See I told you this outfit was quick and easy! This statement jacket did all the talking for this game. What's your favorite statement piece in your closet? Comment or email me at email@example.com, I would love to hear from you all! See you soon!
Dazzling the "Basic Suit"
Hello beautiful people! I'm happy to be back reporting on Coach’s game day outfit. So let's jump straight into it! This outfit was extremely simple in that it wasn't loud neither in color nor overwhelming with too many accessories. Keep reading below to see how I took your basic suit and transformed it into a cohesive dazzling combination.
To go under the suit I chose a sweet nude cami blouse. This went great with the soft pink pinstripes. The outfit was still missing one prominent factor. Jewels! I definitely wanted to keep away from the more bright pure color jewelry, simply because it would have off set the cami as well as the suit itself. What better way to flatter a nude garment than to pick a sparkly nude jewel!
I decided to go with a necklace that was the same color as the cami. This added a glow to a darker color outfit. Another plus of this necklace was it sat nicely on Coach’s chest area. Not too high were she may have felt suffocated, but perfectly at the neckline of the blouse were it enhanced the nude tone cami. To top off the look, I added a gold bracelet and small gold hoops to the look and Coach was ready to go! By using the same shades and tones throughout this look, each piece of garment and accessory worked well off of one another.
As always thank you for keeping up with Cori's Closet, keep tuning in for more updates coming your way!
The “Confident” Suit
Hello beautiful people! I'm back reporting on Coach’s game day outfit. Today we are breaking down the outfit coach wore in the game vs the Cal Bears. If you didn’t peep Coach on the sideline, keep reading and discover how I managed to dress up “confidence”!
So what did she wear?
Now for the shoe! We stayed away from the platform heel this time and went with a pointy toe stiletto! This style of shoe may not be the easiest to walk in, but they look great strutting down that sideline. Along with the precise lining in her suit, the sharp heel and pointed toe also was a contributing factor in putting together her dignified look.
Whelp! I hope you all enjoyed todays break down of the game day fit. Like always, Thank you for keeping up with Cori’s Closet!
No Snow but All White!
Hello beautiful people. I’m back once again reporting live on Coach Cori's outfit! It’s been a little chilly out here in Westwood, what a perfect time to discuss Coach’s winter cold outfit that she wore vs. Notre Dame! This week we are throwing it back to December 28 and breaking down the daring winter white suit Coach strutted along the sideline. Keep reading to get the exclusive details! (:
Coach wore a white suit paired with a sheen blue blouse, along with a simple navy blue peep toe pump. Why did I love this suit? Well for one thing the wide long pants leg fit Coach’s body, perfectly balancing her shapely figure! Another reason I love this look was of course it was white who would dare to wear white in the winter time?!
Most of us know that wearing white is risky business, especially on television! However, by leaving the suit jacket open this prevented Coach from looking like an “invisible” figure roaming around on the side line. The elegant shade of blue was the perfect pop of color for a white suit. It wasn’t too bright or too dark, and to top it off the blouse had a subtle texture. The light ripples in her blouse added a simple sophisticated factor to her entire look.
-Chandelier silver earrings
-Light dainty necklace
-Bold silver shapely bracelet
In choosing the jewelry for this look, I felt it was important to go simple but dazzling at the same time. I strayed away from a bold neck piece, and went with a dainty necklace to compliment the textured blouse. To balance out the simple necklace we went with chandelier earrings. One thing I love about these earring’s is that they peek through coach’s short haircut, just enough that they are not over powering the bold white suit. The earrings gave her look that dazzled factor we wanted. To add some arm candy I chose a thick bracelet to peek through the cuffs her sleeves!
Thank you all for keeping close with Cori’s Closet! Stay tuned because I have a lot more updates for you. Don’t be afraid to comment, let me know what you’ve liked and what you didn’t like thus far. I would love to hear from you all. Talk to you soon!
Hello beautiful people. Yes you guessed I’m back with more updates on Cori’s Closet! Today is a special update for two reasons. First, It’s the game day outfit vs. SC! and secondly, coach worked one of her new clean cut items that I purchased for her a while back from The Limited ‘Scandal’ collection. Keep reading to find out what made this new blouse so special and how I went about choosing this game day outfit!
For the cross-town rivalry I wanted of course incorporate some Bruin blue in Coach Cori's outfit. I didn’t want to do your traditional blue blouse or your bold blue pump. All those are great ideas, but I wanted to think outside the box and I’m not talking about blue hair! As I was searching through Coach’s jewelry collection I came across this necklace that consisted of blue and gold. First word that came to mind…PERFECT!
I decided to make this the centerpiece of Coach’s outfit. I pulled a basic black slack for coach, and a form fitting long sleeve gray blouse. This blouse fit Coach wonderfully in that it accentuated her waist line; also with its slight flare it added a flirty but professional look. I loved how basic this blouse was, but in the same notion with its precise tailoring and subtle detail, the blouse exuded a confident presence! This particular blouse played as a great backdrop to the blue and gold statement necklace as well.
-Medium size gold hoop earrings
Along with the necklace I gave Coach some arm candy however, being that the long sleeve covered Coach’s wrists they weren’t as visible. However, Coach’s necklace and her medium size earrings made up for her missing arm candy!
Thank you again for staying turned in with Cori’s Closet. More breakdowns and updates coming soon! Have a great and blessed week!
